A Co Down sculptor has a new work added to the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Collection.

Sheena Devitt carved The Language of Trees from marble using a mallet and chisel before finishing with diamond abrasive pads.

The piece draws on research into underground fungal networks connecting trees and plants.

Devitt studied drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of Art and completed stone letter carving training in Mid Wales.

She has worked full time as a sculptor since 2006 and holds membership of the Royal Society of Sculptors.

Her works are held in public and private collections.

Further details are available on her website.
