A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon after a stabbing at a motorcycle event in Carrickfergus has been released on bail.

Police arrested the 41-year-old man following a search in the Newtownabbey area on 30 May.

The stabbing occurred around 7:30pm on 27 May at Rodgers Quay, where a man sustained a stab wound to the chest and head injuries.

The suspect left the scene on a motorbike.

The incident took place at a motorcycle event near Carrickfergus Castle.

The man was released on bail on 31 May to allow further enquiries to continue.
