Man arrested after £8,000 in suspected drugs seized in Cookstown
Police arrested a 23-year-old man in Cookstown on Tuesday, 26 May after recovering suspected ketamine and cocaine.
Officers from the District Support Team stopped a vehicle on Sweep Road as part of operations targeting drug crime.
The male passenger left the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. Officers pursued and detained him nearby.
Police recovered the suspected drugs, with an estimated street value of £8,000, along with a quantity of cash.
The man was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and supply offences and later released on conditional bail.
The seized substances will undergo forensic examination.
Chief Inspector Ryan McConville stated that disrupting the supply of illegal drugs remains a priority for police in Mid Ulster. He urged members of the public to report information about drug dealing to police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
