Altan to open Foyle Maritime Festival 2026
Altan will headline the opening night of the Foyle Maritime Festival on 25 June 2026.
The band is scheduled to perform from 9.15pm to 10.45pm on the centre stage along the River Foyle in Derry.
Altan is led by Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh. Founding members Ciaran Curran and Mark Kelly are joined by Martin Tourish and Clare Friel.
The festival runs from 25 to 28 June. It features visiting vessels, water-based activities, markets, food stalls and family entertainment.
A new illuminated night-time spectacle called Sails of Solas will take place along the riverfront. The Galeón Andalucía, a replica 17th-century Spanish galleon, will be open for public tours.
The event is organised by Derry City and Strabane District Council in partnership with Foyle Port and Loughs Agency. Funding comes from Tourism NI and Diageo.
The festival is free and open to all ages.
