Two men aged 25 and 31 have been arrested in Scotland on suspicion of murder after Nicholas Gordon died in hospital.

Gordon, aged 51, was attacked by intruders who broke into an apartment building on Holywood Road in east Belfast.

The assault took place at around 4.45am on Tuesday, May 12, and police received a report of the incident at 8.25am that morning.

Gordon died from his injuries on Saturday, May 16.

A 24-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were also arrested in Northern Ireland in connection with the incident and later released on bail.

Police Service of Northern Ireland detectives will question the two men arrested in Scotland following their return to Northern Ireland.

Police have appealed for anyone who was in the Holywood Road area between 4am and 8.30am on May 12 to contact them if they noticed suspicious behaviour.
