Planning officers at Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Council have approved a housing development of 34 homes at the Tandragee Castle demesne.

The scheme involves demolition of outbuildings in a former walled garden, creation of private and public amenity space, landscaping, and new access from the Armagh Road.

Tayto (NI) Ltd submitted the application through McCreanor & Co. Architects.

Officers approved a separate proposal for a ground-floor warehouse extension and basement car park at the existing Tayto factory on the site.

The warehouse will connect to an existing building and include surface parking, road alterations and landscaping.

The site lies within the Tandragee settlement limit and is surrounded by a church, school, police station and residential properties.

Tandragee Junior High School expressed broad support for the development but requested assurances that school access and perimeter integrity would not be affected.
