Mayobridge GAC has applied for planning permission to build a new gym at its Old Road grounds.

The proposed facility would sit at the northeastern corner of the site and overlook the junior pitch.

The club stated that its current gym space inside the changing rooms has become inadequate because of expanding membership and the number of youth, gents, ladies and camogie teams.

Existing unisex changing rooms mean teams must schedule use at different times, while the new standalone gym would allow any member to use the facility at any time.

The triangular plot selected for the gym is not suitable for pitches or car parking, so the club plans to retain all existing parking and playing space.

A ramped footpath would provide disabled access, and the design is described as modern while reflecting club colours.
