A family in Omagh has raised nearly £50,000 through a GoFundMe appeal to fund overseas treatment for a 40-year-old father diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

Nigel Humphrey was diagnosed with a brain tumour in March 2025. Initial tests indicated a low-grade tumour, but after radiotherapy and chemotherapy his condition worsened. An MRI scan in April 2026 confirmed progression to a Grade 4 glioblastoma.

Humphrey has experienced frequent seizures that have removed his independence. He is no longer able to work, drive or perform everyday tasks. The family has described the diagnosis as placing significant emotional and financial strain on the household.

The appeal was set up to cover costs including treatment, travel, accommodation, ongoing care and loss of income. The family is exploring specialist care in London and advanced therapies abroad such as debulking surgery and personalised immunotherapy.

The family has stated that it cannot accept there are no further options for Humphrey at his age. They said he is not ready to give up and that they will remain with him throughout the process.

The GoFundMe has collected £47,285 towards a £110,000 target. The family continues to seek public support through donations and shares of the appeal while Humphrey receives palliative care.
