A fundraising quiz night in Clogher on November 7 will feature former GAA players from Tyrone, Armagh and Donegal, with proceeds going towards treatment for Christina McCusker, a 38-year-old mother of three diagnosed with a brain tumour.

McCusker was diagnosed in February with a Grade IV diffuse glioma with the H3K27M mutation. She began a six-week course of intensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy in March.

After NHS treatment proved ineffective, her sister-in-law Donna Kelly sought alternative options through the DIPG brain cancer charity Abbie's Army. The family was directed to the Centre for Advanced Medicine in Frankfurt, Germany, where McCusker could receive the drug Imipridon, not currently available on the NHS.

The first three-month supply of the treatment costs 26,739.60 euros (around 22,872 pounds). So far, around 45,000 pounds has been raised by the local community, which the family says is close to covering a further three months of treatment.

The quiz event at Canavan's Bar and Restaurant will be hosted in an 'A Question of Sport' format. Confirmed participants include Tyrone's Peter Canavan and Owen Mulligan, Armagh's Benny Tierney, and Donegal's Brendan Devenney.

Organisers include McCusker's eldest brother Stewart McCusker, Clogher club official Eugene McConnell, and Christina McCusker's niece Ciara Murphy.

Stewart McCusker said most of his family's best memories are from the GAA, and recalled being brought by his father to an Ulster Final in 1984. He also mentioned attending All-Ireland Finals during Tyrone's successful period in the 2000s.

Christina McCusker's father, Seamus, died from a brain tumour in May 2010. Further details about the fundraiser and how to donate will be announced ahead of the event.

This is not the first fundraiser for McCusker; approximately 45,000 pounds has already been raised through local community efforts.
