A Fivemiletown farmer has admitted multiple charges of causing unnecessary suffering to animals and breaching livestock regulations.

Martin Beattie, from the Shantonagh Road, entered the guilty pleas at Dungannon Magistrates Court.

The charges cover the period from January 2022 to January 2024 and include six counts of animal suffering, 13 counts of failing to dispose of carcasses, and violations of veterinary record and by-product rules.

The Public Prosecution Service indicated it will seek a ban on Beattie keeping livestock and the removal of animals currently on his property.

Beattie's solicitor requested medical records for use in mitigation at sentencing.

District Judge Francis Rafferty adjourned the case to June 8 for sentencing.
