Road Resurfacing Schemes Announced for Ballymena and Mountfield
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced two road resurfacing schemes in County Antrim and County Tyrone.
A £605,000 project will resurface a 1.3km section of the A42 Galgorm Road in Ballymena. Work between the Sourhill Road roundabout and Grange Road is scheduled to begin on 18 May 2026 and run for 13 weeks.
Temporary traffic management and phased road closures will operate during the Ballymena scheme. Local access will be maintained where possible while road users are advised to expect delays.
A £390,000 scheme will resurface 1.2km of roads in Mountfield village. The works will cover Main Street, Lenagh Road, Barony Road and Spring Road.
Work on the Mountfield project will take place on weekdays between 8am and 6pm. The final resurfacing of Main Street will be completed overnight.
The Minister stated that the investments demonstrate a commitment to improving the road network and connecting businesses and communities.
Substantial completion of the Mountfield scheme is due by 6 July 2026. The Ballymena project is targeted for completion by 17 August 2026.
