Carl Frampton documentary series explores Northern Ireland probation service
Former boxer Carl Frampton spent nine months observing the Probation Board for Northern Ireland for a new documentary series.
The six-part series shows probation officers supervising more than 4,100 people under court orders and licences.
Frampton met service users and heard accounts from victims of crime during filming.
He reported that many service users described childhood trauma, poor upbringings and mental health difficulties.
Probation officers supervise individuals on community sentences and work to reduce reoffending while managing risk.
The series also covers the challenges faced by probation staff when dealing with complex cases.
The full series will be available on BBC iPlayer from 18 May, with the first episode broadcast on BBC One NI at 22.40 BST.
