Gardaí arrested a woman in her 60s in connection with the 2008 murder of Andrew Burns from Strabane, County Tyrone. The arrest took place at a station in the north-west region on Thursday and she was released without charge the next day. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Burns, aged 27, died from gunshot wounds on February 12, 2008, at Donnyloop, Castlefin, County Donegal. His body was found on a roadway near Donnyloop Church.

Martin Kelly received a life sentence in 2012 for the murder. Investigators believe multiple individuals took part.

Gardaí issued fresh appeals for information, seeking occupants of a red van in the Donnyloop area around 7pm that evening. They state the van's occupants hold vital details but were not involved in the murder.

A family liaison officer supports Burns's relatives. Contact options include Letterkenny Garda Station at 074 9167100 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.
