Police in Omagh responded to a suspicious object found in Culmore Park, County Tyrone, prompting evacuations from a number of properties.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland established cordons in the area and asked the public to stay away while investigations continue.

A nearby community centre opened to house residents forced from their homes. Police thanked those affected for their co-operation.

This marks the third security alert in Culmore Park within eight months. Previous incidents occurred in September and February.

A police spokesperson stated that cordons remain in place and further updates will follow.
