Omagh Security Alert: Homes Evacuated, Shelter Opened at Community Centre
A number of homes have been evacuated in Omagh, County Tyrone, as police deal with a security alert in the Gardenville Avenue area.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed that officers are at the scene, close to the junction of the Killybrack Road and Gortin Road. Cordons are in place and the public are being asked to avoid the area.
West Tyrone MP Órfhlaith Begley said her immediate concern was for residents who had been required to leave their properties, particularly families, older people and anyone who might need additional support. She confirmed that shelter has been made available at the local community centre for those affected.
The PSNI said an update will be provided in due course.
