Police responded to a report of a suspicious object in Orangefield Park, East Belfast, at around 1:50pm on Wednesday, April 8. Officers set up cordons inside the park near Kingfisher Bridge at the Orangefield Lane entrance.

Ammunition Technical Officers attended the scene and examined the object. They determined it posed no threat.

PSNI officers in body armour gathered at the location during the response. Cordons restricted public access to parts of the park.

A PSNI spokesperson stated that police received the report at approximately 1:50pm and attended with Ammunition Technical Officers. The spokesperson confirmed the object was deemed nothing untoward and temporary cordons were lifted.

DUP Councillor Bradley Ferguson for Lisnasharragh DEA noted that PSNI were examining a suspicious object in the park. He asked the public to avoid the area and follow police advice while cordons remained.
