An 18-year-old shooter from Glasdrumman placed eighth individually in the Class B Junior Division at the World English Sporting Clays Championship in San Antonio, Texas.

Eoín O’Flaherty scored 140 out of 200 after five days of competition against juniors from 19 countries. More than 1,200 shooters took part in the mid-April event.

O’Flaherty helped the Ireland junior team achieve third place.

A former pupil at St Louis Grammar School, he has competed in English Sporting Clays for three years.

He will next compete in the English Sporting Clays B Class Junior Division at Eaton Hall Shooting Ground in Derbyshire from 11 to 13 June.
