Eoín O’Flaherty, an 18-year-old from Glasdrumman, competes for the Ireland Junior English Sporting Clays team at the World English Sporting Clays Championship in San Antonio, Texas. His events begin today.

O’Flaherty works as a joiner. He received his first gun at age 15 from his father Martin. He practices on his mother Julie’s family farm. He joined the Irish Clay Target Shooting Association in 2023 and trains under Aidan Collins.

He travels to Balbriggan, Dublin, for junior training sessions each Saturday. He has represented Ireland at last year’s World Championship in Buckinghamshire and the Home International Championship in Wales.

O’Flaherty won Junior Colt Irish Close champion in 2023, Junior Colt Irish Open Compak champion in 2024, Junior Colt English Sporting champion in 2024, and Junior Irish Open Compak champion in 2025.

Phil Gray coaches O’Flaherty. Gray became a full-time coach after working as a scaffolder. O’Flaherty aims for a top ten finish in the junior English Sporting Clays competition and seeks a career in shooting and coaching.
