Man Charged with Hate Crime over Enniskillen Cenotaph Damage
A 33-year-old man faces charges in Enniskillen Magistrates' Court for criminal damage to the town's cenotaph. Police arrested him on Tuesday evening after the incident occurred that day. Authorities classify the case as a hate crime.
The man also faces a charge of possessing a class B substance. He appeared in court on Wednesday, 13th May. The Public Prosecution Service reviewed the charges as standard procedure.
Ulster Unionist Party deputy leader Diana Armstrong addressed the damage. She noted the cenotaph's importance as a memorial for those who died in conflicts, including the Enniskillen bombing of November 1987. Armstrong called the vandalism disgraceful and urged the public to contact police with information.
