Police in the Fermanagh and Omagh district arrested a local man suspected of drink-driving as he returned home from a first date. The incident occurred during a series of vehicle checkpoints conducted by the PSNI District Support Team.

Officers set up checkpoints in multiple locations including Dromore, Loughmacrory, Omagh, Belleek, Kesh, Garrison, Rosslea and Lisnaskea. A PSNI spokesperson stated that the checkpoints aim to provide high visibility presence and disrupt individuals seeking to cause harm in communities.

The spokesperson noted that police will continue to target those involved in crime and the supply of illegal drugs and bring them before the courts. Drink-driving arrests have surged in Fermanagh, according to police.
