Newry BID has begun its Health in the City programme, offering free events on health, wellbeing and active living at multiple locations in the city. The initiative includes gym sessions, workshops, family activities and business events. All events are open to everyone, with bookings available via Newry.com.

A Family and Business Trika event is scheduled for Sunday at No Bull Gym. This fitness challenge suits all levels and promotes teamwork for families, friends and work teams. Wellbeing workshops cover resilience, mindset and self-compassion at Sugar House Cafe, led by Lianne McCooey.

The Southern Health and Social Care Trust partners on free health checks and skincare sessions under the Care in the Sun campaign for early detection. Self-defence training for women and girls comes from Strike Back Self Defence. Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank provide financial health checks and fraud awareness.

Weekly Movement on the Mall sessions occur every Wednesday in Buttercrane Shopping Centre. These chair-based movement and yoga classes are led by The Powerhouse instructors, with free refreshments. Other events feature a Penalty Shootout Challenge and workshops for families and young people at Studio 23.

Eamonn Connolly, Newry BID manager, stated the programme aims to make wellbeing accessible by removing participation barriers through free citywide events. The series continues until the end of May.
