Bangor Drama Club in County Down will present Boyd’s Shop by St John Ervine to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The shows run from Wednesday, May 6, to Saturday, May 9, at Studio 1A in Bangor.

Linda Taylor directs the production. She began her acting career with the club and retired from BBC Radio Ulster 15 years ago. Taylor noted the timing matches the play's original performance 90 years prior.

The story unfolds in 1936 in a small town on the Ards peninsula. It centers on a family shop where locals gather to talk. A young man opens a rival shop nearby, followed by another arrival. The newcomers stir changes, gossip, and a love triangle that resolves positively. The play features gentle humour.

Taylor described her cast and crew as excellent. She expressed enjoyment in both acting and directing, stating that her acting background helps her relate to performers.

Tickets cost £14 and can be bought at Bangor Visitor Information Centre. More details appear at www.studio1a.co.uk.
