Lewis Kelly, a pupil at Carndonagh Community School preparing for Leaving Certificate exams, died in a Dublin hospital. He fell suddenly unwell on Friday evening and took ill while working in Culdaff.

Kelly played Gaelic football for Malin and soccer for Culdaff FC, advancing to the senior team. He also worked part-time at McGuinness’ Bar in Culdaff.

Malin GAA Club issued a statement expressing grief over the loss of Kelly, who progressed through underage ranks and showed strong potential. The club noted his positive attitude brought joy to others.

Culdaff FC suspended all activities until further notice and offered prayers for Kelly and his family.

County Councillor Ali Farren stated the death has affected the entire community. He described Kelly as popular with peers and said the Kelly family is well known and respected locally. Farren added the loss impacts schools, sports groups, and the wider area.
