Mid Ulster Launches Walking for All Community Programme
Mid Ulster District Council has launched the Walking for All programme this spring. The initiative offers free led walks in local community spaces for adults of all ages and abilities.
Outscape, a charity, delivers the programme in partnership with the council. It receives support from PEACEPLUS, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. The effort contributes to a cross-border project creating numerous walking groups.
Matthew McNicholl serves as the Walking for All Officer for Mid Ulster District Council. He assists in forming walking groups and recruits volunteer Walk Leaders.
Walk Leaders organise and guide regular walks to foster ongoing community groups. Training and support come from McNicholl, with no prior experience required. Leaders help enhance local wellbeing and social links.
Groups from Mid Ulster can link with those in other council areas.
Residents may register interest as walkers or leaders at www.walkingforall.com. Contact McNicholl at Matthew.McNicholl@midulstercouncil.org or 03000 132 132.
