Cookstown Businessman to Compete at Hyrox World Championships
A Co Tyrone businessman will compete at the Hyrox World Championships in Stockholm on June 19.
Nigel Davidson, who runs a floor and wall tiling firm based outside Cookstown, has secured a place in the Men’s Pro 50-54 age group. His journey to the global event began little more than a year ago when he volunteered at a Hyrox competition in Glasgow with his daughter. She suggested he try the sport, and he later entered his first race.
At Hyrox Dublin in November 2025, Davidson won his age group in the Men’s category with a time of 1 hour 7 minutes 20 seconds. The result qualified him for the European Championships, but he chose not to compete because the race was scheduled on a Sunday.
Instead, he turned his focus to Hyrox Glasgow in March 2026, where victory in the Men’s Pro division would earn a world championship spot. He again won his age category, finishing in 1:11:25 and securing his place in Stockholm.
Davidson has been balancing training with his business commitments ahead of the world championships. He expects high standards in Stockholm and hopes to achieve a podium finish. Hyrox is a global fitness event combining 8 km of running with eight functional workouts.
