PSNI Arrests Woman in Carrickfergus for Hungarian Extradition on Fraud Charges
Police Service of Northern Ireland officers arrested a 42-year-old woman in the Carrickfergus area on Monday 20 April. The arrest took place under a Hungarian extradition warrant.
The woman faces trial in Hungary for money laundering and fraud offences that occurred there in 2024. She appeared before Laganside Extradition Court that afternoon.
Officers from the PSNI International Policing Unit carried out the detention. Sergeant Davey stated the arrest resulted from an investigation into an organised crime group linked to fraud and theft across Europe.
Investigators collaborated with Hungarian authorities and the UK Joint International Crime Centre. Sergeant Davey added that Northern Ireland offers no refuge for fugitives and that PSNI works with partners to make arrests and bring suspects to court.
