Man Extradited to Face Child Cruelty Charges in Derry
A 54-year-old man has been extradited from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland to face charges of child cruelty and blackmail.
The man was arrested in the Republic of Ireland on 7 August 2022 on an extradition warrant issued by the PSNI.
Extradition proceedings were completed on 19 May when he was returned to Northern Ireland.
He is scheduled to appear at Londonderry Magistrates' Court on 20 May.
In a separate case, a 33-year-old man was extradited from Northern Ireland to Romania to serve a prison sentence of one year and 11 months for theft offences committed in Romania.
The second man was arrested in Belfast city centre in August 2025 after officers identified him as wanted in Romania.
Sergeant Davey of the PSNI International Policing Unit stated that officers continue to work with national and international partners to locate and return individuals sought for extradition.
