Man Charged After Hot Water Assault at Strabane Courthouse
A 34-year-old man faces charges after throwing hot water on another man at Strabane Magistrates' Court in County Tyrone. The incident took place shortly before 11am on Thursday, April 16, during a court hearing. It halted proceedings at the courthouse.
The victim sustained burns to his face and upper body. He received hospital treatment.
Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon with intent. He remained in custody after the arrest.
Detectives later charged him with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
The man is due to appear at Dungannon Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
