Coalisland GAA Club Postpones Activities After Death of Year 12 Student
Na Fianna GLC in Coalisland postponed all club activities and closed facilities after the death of Year 12 student Hugh John Campbell. The club described him as a dedicated player who progressed from youth ranks to the minor squad.
Campbell attended every training session and match. He sold club lotto tickets weekly and supported senior games at Fr. Peter Campbell Park. He recently won an Ulster medal in the U16 Pat King Championship.
Campbell, son of Brian and Ciara Campbell and brother of Aileen and Brianna, died suddenly at home in Coalisland. His grandparents are Hughie and Eileen O’Neill from Altaglushan, Galbally, and the late John and Eleanor Campbell from Annagher.
St Joseph's College in Coalisland confirmed Campbell was a Year 12 pupil. His mother works at the school, and a sibling is a former pupil. The school noted his involvement in Gaelic football.
Coalisland Training Services stated Campbell joined their programmes in Year 10. He completed courses in plumbing, electrical work, joinery, and bricklaying.
Funeral arrangements are pending announcement.
