Police from Sprucefield stopped a silver C-Class Mercedes on the Bangor Road in Cultra on Tuesday evening following a 999 call from a member of the public.

The caller reported concerns about the driver's standard of driving and suspected the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Officers carried out a roadside preliminary breath test, which the driver failed.

The 40-year-old male driver was arrested.

In custody, he provided an evidential breath sample showing a reading just over twice the legal drink-drive limit.

The driver faces court proceedings.
