A 41-year-old man from Fintona faces a 12-month driving ban after staff at an Omagh fast food restaurant alerted police to a suspected drink-driver on New Year's Eve.

David Czernicki of King Street pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated at Omagh Magistrates Court.

The incident occurred at 10pm when staff reported the driver of a black Audi in the restaurant car park.

Police arrived to find Czernicki still in the vehicle and arrested him.

An evidential breath test showed 68 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, almost double the legal limit.

Defence solicitor Michael Fahy stated Czernicki had worked that evening and consumed alcohol at home, adding that he should not have driven.

District Judge Conor Heaney imposed the disqualification and a £250 fine.
