Driver Arrested Over Alcohol Limit After Single-Vehicle Crash Near Craigavon Hospital
Police arrested a driver on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol after a single-vehicle crash near Craigavon Area Hospital. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, March 18, in Lurgan.
Officers from Lurgan’s Local Policing Team arrived at the scene and found the car overturned on its roof on the footpath. The vehicle had collided with a lamppost.
The driver, located at the scene, failed a roadside preliminary breath test with a reading almost double the legal limit. Police arrested the individual on suspicion of that offence plus several other driving offences.
The driver sustained no injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved.
A PSNI spokesperson noted that police will continue to patrol roads to target drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
