Carrickfergus Rugby Football Club announced the death of Richard Price, a past president and trustee. Price served as a founding member of the Carrick Sevens in 1973 and worked as a youth coach. He held staff positions for many years at Greenisland Primary School.

The club issued a statement on March 27 expressing sadness at his passing. Price leaves two sons, Michael and Richard. Club members extended thoughts to his family and friends.

Brian McKernon, president of Belfast High School Former Pupils Rugby Football Club, noted Price taught P7 classes at Greenisland Primary School. McKernon described Price's influence in education and rugby.

A one-minute silence took place before the Carrick versus Ophir RFC game on March 28 in Price's memory. Ophir RFC offered condolences to Price's family, friends, and Carrick RFC.

Price's funeral service is scheduled for 2pm on April 8 at Newtownabbey and Antrim Crematorium on Doagh Road in Newtownabbey.
