Workers have cleared nearly all shrubbery along the car park fringe at Meadowbank Quay in Derry. The vegetation provided harbourage for brown rats in recent years.

Concerns about rats at the site prompted action over recent weeks. Crews cut back the plants on site.

Last year officials removed planters and trimmed shrubbery to limit nesting spots. Rats continued to appear there in recent months.

The latest work addresses ongoing issues at the location.
