Flood Prevention Works Completed on Ballymena Rural Road
Works to prevent flooding on Cardonaghy Road in Ballymena have been completed by the Department for Infrastructure.
TUV Bannside Alderman Stewart McDonald raised concerns about repeated flooding several months ago. The issue created hazardous conditions for residents and motorists during heavy rain over the past year.
McDonald pressed the department to act on the long-standing problem. He visited the site after the works finished.
The department carried out improvements to reduce future flood risks. A local farmer provided access to his land to enable the project.
McDonald stated that the intervention followed his representations to the department. He noted the farmer's assistance played a key role in completion.
Residents and road users along Cardonaghy Road now have reduced risk from heavy rainfall.
