Yesil Hassan, 22, of Riverview Apartments in Derry, received an eight-month prison sentence at Derry court. He admitted charges of domestic abuse and multiple counts of criminal damage committed on various dates in 2025.

The charges involved Hassan's mother as the injured party. She reported ongoing domestic abuse by her son to police.

The mother stated she felt compelled to meet her son's demands. She expressed fear and nervousness around him.

She indicated she avoided giving opinions Hassan might reject to prevent his anger. She noted the behaviour had continued for some time.

Defence counsel Stephen Chapman told the court Hassan had been bailed to the mother's address with no further incidents.
