Chris McGuigan has retired from St Conor's school in Omagh after more than 20 years of service. He worked as building supervisor, lunchtime supervisor and supervisor of the cleaning staff.

Principal Katrina McGettigan paid tribute to McGuigan at a farewell gathering attended by staff. She noted that he salted paths on frosty mornings, opened gates each day, delivered milk to classrooms and ensured the school stayed clean and safe.

McGettigan said McGuigan upheld high standards and treated colleagues with respect. She added that he organised and supported the cleaning staff with fairness and led by example.

During lunchtime supervision, McGuigan connected with pupils. He encouraged play, resolved disagreements and ensured every child felt included. McGettigan stated that he brought a calm presence to the playground.

McGettigan highlighted McGuigan's additional skills as a musician, technician, joiner, carpenter and problem-solver. She said he often fixed issues shortly before events.

McGettigan described McGuigan as quietly dependable. She noted that he noticed what needed doing and got on with it without fuss.
