Councillor Oliver McMullan, Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, visited the Causeway Down’s Syndrome Support Group last Thursday. He observed a music therapy session for children and young people with Down’s syndrome.

The session took place as part of the group’s activities supporting families across the Causeway and Ballymena areas. McMullan met with families during the visit.

Music therapy is delivered by Michaela Dolan from Resonate Music Therapy. It aids children and young people in developing communication, social interaction and emotional expression through rhythm, movement and song.

The group, a parent-led charity, supports 65 families. It offers communication groups, social events, youth clubs and seasonal celebrations to build confidence, independence and friendships.

McMullan stated that the group’s programmes help children develop confidence, communication and connection. He noted its vital role in the community across the Causeway and Ballymena areas.
