The Consumer Council advises Northern Ireland passengers to plan ahead for Easter travel to cut queues, delays and extra costs across air, sea, road and public transport.

Michelle Kelly, Head of Transport Policy at the Consumer Council, stated that Easter draws many people to visit family or take short breaks. She recommended steps like reviewing airline policies and verifying passport validity to ease journeys.

Kelly stressed monitoring service updates for disruptions from weather, industrial action, road works or other issues before departure.

The Consumer Council lists 10 preparation tips. These cover passport checks and destination entry rules, knowledge of air and sea passenger rights for cancellations, flexible booking options, cabin bag limits at Northern Ireland airports allowing up to two litres of liquids, online check-in requirements, pre-booked assistance for those with disabilities, airport parking research, provider updates, holiday timetables and mobile roaming costs in EU countries.

More on passenger rights appears in the Consumer Council's travel section.
