Publishing Duo to Share Success Story at West Belfast Business Event
Caitríona Nic Sheáin and Andy Whitson will speak at the West Belfast Small Business Roundtable on 31 March. The event takes place at 8am in An Chultúrlann on the Falls Road. The couple founded the bilingual publishing house An tSnáthaid Mhór.
Their Rita series for children has gained widespread popularity. The series has expanded from print books to a TV show on TG4. In collaboration with author Máire Zepf, they have published nine picturebooks.
The books have toured schools and libraries. They have won awards and include an activity book. Products include T-shirts. Translations exist in English and Welsh by Graffeg and in braille by Vision Ireland.
Last year, their book Cailín Sinséir Bhéal Feirste - The Belfast Gingerbread Girl by Marieanne McShane sold well at the St George's Christmas market. The book features Belfast as its setting.
The roundtable event will occur bilingually to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge. Caitríona Nic Sheáin comes from the Shaws Road Gaeltacht. Attendance is open to those interested in local economic promotion. Tickets are available via Eventbrite.
The West Belfast Small Business Roundtable supports networking for local small business owners and features speakers.
