Caitríona Nic Sheáin and Andy Whitston of publisher An tSnáthaid Mhór spoke at the March meeting of West Belfast Business Circle. Gearóid Ó Muilleoir introduced the speakers.

An tSnáthaid Mhór has offices in the Cultúrlann for 20 years. The publisher has won multiple awards, including three selections as Ireland's book of the year. It has published 45,000 copies of those books.

Ó Muilleoir described the publishers' achievements as incredible. He noted their Rita book series now appears on TG4. Their books have set new standards in Irish language literature.

Nic Sheáin taught at Bunscoil Phobal Feirste. She linked her educator experience and passion for Irish to publishing. Whitston combined his illustrator background with his interest in Irish.

Their work provides Irish reading material for schoolchildren in Belfast and across the region.
