Séamus Ó Tuama, principal of Bunscoil Phobal Feirste, has published his first book titled 'Béal Feirste: Belfast'.

The book completes projects started by his late father Diarmuid Ó Tuama, who served as principal of the first Gaelscoil in Northern Ireland. Diarmuid Ó Tuama died in January 2023. He worked as an author, historian and Irish language activist.

'Béal Feirste: Belfast' covers the Twomey family history. It spans from a 19th-century British soldier through the outbreak of the Troubles to involvement in Belfast's Irish language revival.

A launch event takes place on Friday night at Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich. Séamus Ó Tuama will discuss the book with Ian McMillan, principal of Gaelscoil An Chaistil, and historian Dr Fearghal McCluskey.

The session runs from 7.30pm to 9pm. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.
