Ernest Rutledge, 77, of Dernavogy Road in Brookeborough, faces a charge of failing to properly store a firearm and ammunition. The alleged offence took place on 22 July at Enniskillen Magistrates Court.

The charge relates to the day before Ian Rutledge killed his partner Vanessa Whyte and their daughter Sara at their home on Crummeer Road in Maguiresbridge. Ian Rutledge and his son James received injuries and died in hospital.

Rutledge did not attend the hearing. His defence solicitor requested two weeks to obtain instructions.

District Judge Alana McSorley approved the request. She adjourned the case to 23 March.
