Courts: Father of triple killer admits firearm storage failure as animal welfare case heard in Lurgan
ENNISKILLEN: Ernest Rutledge (77), of Dernavogy Road, Brookeborough, pleaded guilty to failing to properly and securely store a firearm and ammunition on 22 July 2025 - the day before his son Ian used the weapon to kill Ian's wife Vanessa Whyte (45) and their two children before dying himself from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. District Judge Alana McSorley ordered pre-sentence reports and adjourned the case until 13 May, with Victim Impact Statements still to be finalised.
