The Department for the Economy released a report on electricity consumption and renewable generation in Northern Ireland for the year ending December 2025. The document outlines the share of electricity produced from renewable sources.

The report supports monitoring of progress under the Energy Strategy Path to Net Zero Energy. It also tracks performance against the Climate Change Act goal of 80% renewable electricity consumption by 2030.

Authorities have shifted to a Gross Final Electricity Consumption method for measurement and reporting. This change follows data improvements and development work.

No direct comparisons can be drawn with figures published before March 2026 due to enhanced coverage. Historic data from 2018 onward using the new method appears in the report for time-series analysis.

The updated measure includes own-use generation, raising the total renewable volume. This adjustment diversifies the technology breakdown compared to prior reports.
