Police reported that several masked men entered a house in the Mount Pleasant area of Bushmills on Monday, 2 March, around 9.30pm. The men, carrying weapons, tried to detain a male occupant who escaped upstairs without injury. That part of the house was searched and left in disorder.

A female occupant suffered injuries from an assault with a bat. She received hospital treatment for injuries described as not serious. She left the house through the garden during the incident.

The suspects departed the scene on foot. Detective Inspector Hanbidge stated that investigations continue to identify those involved and establish a motive.
