Armagh Council Opens Public Consultation on Gaol Site Future
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council launched a community engagement process for the Armagh Gaol Transformation Project. The effort seeks input on mixed uses for the site to aid economic, social and cultural needs in Armagh City.
An open day occurs on Saturday 14 March from 10am to 3pm. Participants must book slots via the council's Armagh Gaol webpage. Further sessions target residents, community groups, businesses and stakeholders in coming months.
The gaol stands vacant since 1986 and passed to council ownership in 1997. Earlier regeneration plans failed to advance. Mid South West Growth Deal funding now supports a fresh mixed-use approach.
Armagh Place Plan names the site a priority for sustainability through diversified functions. The Mid South West Regional Economic Strategy lists it as key to city centre growth. The building overlooks The Mall.
Carlin Planning handles the sessions. Feedback will shape proposals and a business case. Contact via info@carlinplanning.com or the council website.
