Cullybackey man sent to Crown Court on strangulation and assault charges
Steven McBride, aged 32 and from Tobar Park in Cullybackey, County Antrim, appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on February 26, 2025. The court sent his case to Antrim Crown Court for arraignment on March 25.
Prosecutors charged McBride with non-fatal strangulation linked to events in May and June 2024. Additional charges include three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of domestic abuse, and possession of cannabis.
Prosecutors withdrew an earlier charge against McBride for possessing scissors as an offensive weapon with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The magistrate granted McBride continued bail at 500 pounds. Crown Courts in Northern Ireland process indictable offences including serious assaults.
