Police charged a 23-year-old man after a report of him carrying knives in Dunmurry on 25 February. The incident occurred in the south Belfast suburb on a Tuesday.

He faces charges of possessing a bladed article in public and possessing an offensive weapon in public. Additional counts include two thefts, criminal damage and threatening behaviour.

Prosecutors added charges of two assaults on police, resisting arrest, common assault and holding a Class A drug.

The man will appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on 27 February. The Public Prosecution Service will review all charges in line with standard practice.

Dunmurry lies in County Antrim within the Belfast urban area.
