Lisnaskea woman donates handmade blankets and hats to South West Acute Hospital
A Lisnaskea woman has donated handmade blankets and hats to the Maternity and Neonatal Units at South West Acute Hospital (SWAH) in Enniskillen.
Carmel Murphy knitted the items to provide warmth for newborn babies. The donation was received by Maternity Lead Midwife Brenda McCabe, Interim Lead for Maternity and Neonatal Services Karen Weir, and hospital volunteer Pauline Law-Flamingo.
Karen Weir explained that maintaining a newborn baby's body temperature is a key aspect of neonatal care, particularly in the first days after birth. She said the knitted blankets and hats would offer valuable warmth and comfort.
Brenda McCabe thanked Carmel Murphy for giving her time and talent to support newborn babies and their families.
Among the first to benefit was baby Serin Teague, daughter of Patrick and Paula Teague. The family received one of the handmade blankets, and Serin was also given a pink knitted cardigan donated by Carmel Murphy. Serin was preparing to go home to meet her older brother and sister.
